Stone Soup Theatre brings this haunting story, arguably Shepard's best known play, to the stage this February. Fool for Love is a story of obsession, love, denial, and the relationship between two people who cant live with or without each other.
Starring Annie Lareau as May and Anders Bolang as Eddie, and directed by Charlotte Tiencken, the story of two lovers who try to come to terms with their past is riveting and horrific, funny and bitter. Sex, love, hate, passion and jealousy are all here. The New York Times called Fool for Love a western for our time. We watch a pair of figurative gunslingers fight to the finish- not with bullets, but with piercing words that give ballast to the weight of a nation's buried dreams. Don't miss this little-produced one-act in an intimate setting.
Starting in October, prepare for a season packed full of comedy, drama, memories, fun and more! We will begin October 29th with "Durang7": 7 one-acts by Christopher Durang. Following that is our annual Christmas show, based on the Dylan Thomas poem, "A Child's Christmas in Wales". Next, join us in February with Sam Shepard's "Fool for Love". In the spring we will present the 10th anniversary edition of "The Vagina Monologues". And, finally, in May we will end with our annual Original One-Act Play Festival featuring two weekends of six plays each from playwrights around the country.
STONE SOUP'S NEW THEATRE, THE DOWNSTAGE, IS NOW OPEN! Join us for our 2009-10 season at the larger, more comfortable DownStage space! Our 20009 Capital Campaign is a success in progress. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to defer the costs of creating the new DownStage Theatre. To date we have raised 26% of our goal.
