Alice’s adventure will come alive as students tell the story of her return to wonderland with Humpty Dumpty Tweedledee, Tweedledum and the Red Queen in tow. Movement, music and chess(of course) will help bring this classic sequel to life.


Shadow Puppetry

Ages 4-6
Tuition: $140
Mondays 4:00-5:00p.m.
February 1 - February 22, 2010

As young students often need a variety of short activities to keep their attention, this course will combine physical, drawing, story-telling and puppetry activities. All activities will introduce students to the concept of telling stories through pictures and equip them with shadow puppetry techniques. For the final presentation, the students will build puppets and perform “What was I scared of?” by Dr. Seuss under the general direction of the teacher.


Improvisation with Masks

Thursdays 4:00-6:00p.m.
February 4 - March 25, 2010
Performances: TBD

An original improvisational story is created using Greek, Neutral, clown and body masks. Students are taught how to find the attitude, intelligence, and creature aspects of masks as they create a story line. Learning to improvise with the masks is very powerful. We watch all self-consciousness melt away as the power of the masks are mastered. This class culminates in performance.


Playwriting

Ages 13-17
Tuition: $265
Wednesdays 4:00-6:00p.m.
February 3 - March 24, 2010

This class will equip students with the techniques to write an original short play of not more than 10 pages. This workshop will examine the principles of drama through the perspective connection of ideas, character ,content and audience. Students will read established scenes and learn how dramatic writing differs from other genre’s and develop the tools to write dramatically. Playwright Dickey Nessenger teaches with past teaching credits which INCLUDE Freehold, Antioch and the Richard Hugo House.
